Broad-Leaved Dock (Rumex obtusifolius) (20/06/2022) Field leading to Horton Wood, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex. The main way to tell docks apart - Broad-Leaved Dock has these teethed tepals. Clustered Dock instead has elongated toothless tepals, Curled Dock has shield/heart-shaped tepals and Wood Dock small and narrow tepals but with ball-shaped fruits.

You don't seem to find details of these flowers let alone photos in the books, only the tepal shape. So I was really happy to find these amongst the photos I took.

A mass of tepals (which is the name for the things containing the fruits) - they seem to have a raggedy appearance when viewed froim a distance. Other Docks look kind of "tidier" as they don't have the ragged edges.
