Common Vetch ssp SATIVA (Vicia sativa ssp. sativa) (09/06/2022) West Mill Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex. It's ssp. sativa because this specimen is pretty large (which is why it is often used as a fodder crop), has two tone flowers and is hairy. SSp Segetalis has must paler standards (the upper petals) and is not hairy. Ssp Nigra has flowers with standard same colour as wings but in particular, narrow upper leaflets not broad like these.
Common Vetch ssp SEGETALIS (Vicia sativa var. segetalis) (10/05/2020) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (arena bank adjacent to field). This ssp. segetalis has paler standards (upper flowers) and is a smaller species, with smaller leaflets and less hairy than var. sativa. ssp. Nigra has uniformly coloured flowers and much marrower leaflets.

Common Vetch ssp SATIVA (Vicia sativa ssp. sativa) (09/06/2022) West Mill Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex. Another ID feature for ssp. sativa is these seed pods - the slight constrictions between the seeds which ssp. nigra and ssp. segetalis lack. Also the pod is a bit short-hairy and ssp. segatalis is smooth.
