Coal Tit (Periparus ater) Family = "Paridae" (05/05/2008) RSPB Loch Garten. Although in Scotland, we get them regularly at my grandparents farm in Pulborough visiting the feeders, so although not taken in Sussex, I've not got any Sussex photos, so have included these for interest-sake. They have a pale salmony chest and abdomen. The only one it could be confused with is a Marsh Tit but that lacks the white stripe at the back of the head.

Coal Tit (Periparus ater) Family = "Paridae" (05/05/2008) RSPB Loch Garten. It is a bit of a specialist in that its bill is more slender than the other tits to help it feed more easily on conifers and pines. But they will also visit peanut feeders which is what they do at grandparents.
