Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) - Familly "Bombycillidae" (21/02/2009) Outside a house in Worthing on a twitch. It is the only member in the UK of Bombycillidae. Nothing else quite like it. We get influxes of them in winter - some years massive ones, some years hardly any. Males and females alike apart from males have a darker and more extensive chin patch and more intense red wing tips than females. But not easy to tell unless they are next to one another.
