They come in various shades and with various markings. Very similar to Stock Dove's but those don't have the bands on the wings plus don't have pale rumps.

Somewhere local didn't record where probably Brighton or Worthing. Apparently over half the European population is in the UK! Can't tell which is male or female as they look very similar. Males tend to be a bit larger, so perhaps the one behind is a male.

Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) (20/09/2008) Arundel Wildfowl and Wetlands Reserve. All puffed up I think posing for a female.
