Driftway, Upper Beeding, Steyning (garden). Very distinctive by the streaking on its body. Males Instead have a black head and a black bib although in winter they tend to be browner. The females seem to have a paler circle going above and below its cheek.

Driftway, Upper Beeding, Steyning (garden). The male on the right at this time of year they don't have the black head and bib - instead brown. Female on the left is paler and with a more noticeable pale stripe alongside its eye.

Driftway, Upper Beeding, Steyning (garden). Most of these images are taken on the ground feeder in our garden. We;ve several streams with reeds out the back field so I think they've learned that there is feed on tap in our garden!
