Sparrowhawk ♀︎ (Accipiter nisus) Family = "Accipitridae" (18/12/2005) Driftway, Upper Beeding, Steyning (garden). Males look quite different - they have grey heads and back and orange barring on their chests. They are also smaller than females.

I am not sure if it is the same female but we only ever seem to get females, or just one particular one, not sure. They come because of the bird feeders and will actually try to get birds off the feeders and often succeed.

This next sequence, was at my camera at the window and suddenly the female landed on the patio right in front of me! Actually struggled to get focus! I would have thought it could have seen me, but perhaps the window was being reflective so it couldn't see through! Anyway, amazing close-ups of this rather annoying bird as it keeps trying to eat all the little birds that visit the feeders!
